Queensland Mining Awards 2022 – Two Weeks Left To Enter!

14 April 2022 | Queensland Mining Awards

“SIMPLE ENTRY, ENORMOUS REWARDS”: GAS FIELD SERVICES SAYS YOU NEED TO ENTER QMA 2022

There are just two weeks left to enter the 2022 Queensland Mining Awards. But why should a business enter? 2020 Mining Contractor of the Year, Gas Field Services, says it’s a simple process with a significant return on investment.

Gas Field Services Director Stephen Burt was on hand to accept the company’s Queensland Mining Contractor of the Year award at QMA 2020, along with a win for the Safety Initiative Award and a finalist spot in the Productivity category.

“We put several hours work into our two entries, but the payoff we received from winning both the Safety category and the overall Contractor of the Year Award was enormous. There was a room full of mining industry leaders and decision-makers who saw our company’s capabilities clearly demonstrated,” said Mr Burt.

Judges loved the drilling company’s focus on investing in innovation, and their win demonstrates that size doesn’t necessarily matter when it comes to making an impact.

Bowen Basin Mining Club Director Jodie Currie says that’s the beauty of the peer judging panel – as their combined decades of industry experience means they know what really makes a difference on site, rather than what looks good on paper.

“Our judging panel includes executives from Glencore, Anglo American, BHP and South32. Not only is it beneficial for QMA entrants to have their entries read in detail by our judges, but the feedback judges provide to finalists about industry relevance is priceless.”

The eight awards categories include productivity, innovation, safety, best new product, environment, collaboration and staff/community engagement. The Queensland Mining Contractor of the Year is selected by the judging panel for a business that shows outstanding initiative and excellence across multiple categories.

“Gas Field Services, plus previous Contractor of the Year winners Wolff Mining (now part of National Group), TEAM Group and SMW Group, have all seen significant growth in their businesses in the years since their respective Awards win. We’d like to think we played a part in helping those businesses to promote their unique approaches to doing things better in our ever-evolving industry,” said Ms Currie.

Online entries for the Awards are open until 5pm on Friday 29 April. To start your entry, visit judgify.me/QMA2022. The Gala Presentation Dinner is planned for Wednesday 20 July 2022 during QME, and tickets are available now via qldminingawards.com.
