Queensland Mining Awards 2022 – Hot Tips For A Great Award Entry

05 April 2022 | Queensland Mining Awards

Telling your story is probably easier over dinner with friends. But the rewards of writing it down and hitting ‘submit’ in the Queensland Mining Awards online submission site go far beyond ‘well done, mate, pass the salt’.

You’ve got until Friday 29 April to answer the five questions that will tell the judging panel how you’ve improved, innovated and thought outside the box in your corner of the mining sector in Queensland.

Not a huge task, and as Mark Twain said, “the secret to getting ahead is getting started”. And you have help. Read on!

Hot tips:

1. Begin! Take a few minutes to register and fill your company details on the online platform.

While you’re on the page, check out the categories and download the five questions – there’s only 5 in each category. Once registered, save and go back to complete your submission bit by bit and
work online or offline as you prefer.

2. Use what you have. If your project is one that you’ve previously written up for a tender, a grant application or on your website as an example of your work, chances are that you can use that information as a good basis for your entry.

3. Writing not your skill? Outsourcing is the way to go. If the written word is a barrier to entry, outsource it! Talk it over with someone who’s a good writer – leaving you to get on with what you do best.

4. Get help. Use the Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning’s free service to check over your entry and feedback useful improvements before you submit To access the DSDILGP free assistance, you can either email Ros.Wesche@dsdilgp.qld.gov.au or call the DSDILGP Mackay-Isaac-Whitsunday Regional Office on 07 4898 6804.

5. Hit the ‘SUBMIT’ button – and you’re in with a chance to boost your business profile and showcase your unique value to the mining industry’s best and brightest.

AND REMEMBER….

Judges aren’t looking for perfect prose – just simple, full explanations with clear, verifiable evidence and solid referees. Your project doesn’t have to be a huge undertaking – they’re looking for those initiatives that shifted the paradigm in some way.

Click through to the entry pack to choose categories, and start your entry by downloading the questions. And we hope to see you on the podium at QME in July!
